How to Connect Foreign Tourist Spending with Local Economic Revitalization [vol.233]
Amid predictions that FIT will continue to advance, increasing the volume of visitors to outlying areas with the maturation of Japan’s inbound tourism market and the appearance of LCCs, etc., connecting spending by foreign tourists with the revitalization of local economies has become an important standpoint.
In this special feature, we analyzed the mid-to-long term trends and policy changes in advanced inbound tourism areas (Special Feature 2) and advanced case studies categorized by spending activity in tourism areas (Special Feature 3) from this standpoint. We also conducted an interview with Japan Guide’s editor-in-chief Stefan Shauwecker, and considered the issue from the perspectives of both the origins and the destinations.
