    Trends in Destination Management [vol.234]
A DMO is an organization responsible for destination management and destination marketing, and much is expected of them as leaders in regional development through tourism.
While both marketing and management were originally business management terms, as is clear if one replaces a company with a region, marketing is only possible when there is management.
However, the birth of and changes to the concept of destination management cannot necessarily be understood in the same way.
Therefore, we will attempt to clear up the definition of this concept and the current situation from both academic and practical perspectives, and consider its future development and direction in Japan.
