Although it came to a standstill during the coronavirus pandemic, in our endemic society, tourism is once more taking off vigorously around the world. With the recovery of tourism demand, issues such as overtourism are also flaring up again, and efforts to resolve these challenges are being investigated and implemented in tourism areas worldwide.
Last year (August to October 2023), we dispatched all of our foundation’s researchers on overseas inspection tours to three destinations: Hawaii, Switzerland/Austria, and New Zealand. Each researcher shared what they actually saw, heard, and experienced in the field, and they speculated on the direction in which tourism will develop dynamically going forward.
